The new update wipes the app clean. All the stored puzzles, and accompanying times are gone. Is there any way of retrieving them, or redetermining which ones were already completed?

Woah! Can you verify that you are still logged in and that your subscription check shows a valid date?

We did a lot of update testing and there should be no loss of data upon install.

Can you give me an idea of how many puzzles you had loaded?

It recognizes my identity and the subscription information is correct. All the puzzles, including the bundled ones are gone and all the average times read N/A. I had all the puzzles from Oct. 1996 through Sept 1997 done, June of last year through tonight, and a few others in between. All gone including today's, which I had just finished and, after the update appeared blank.

I too have lost all completion data.

It did not happen immediately on install. It happened after I only looked at the new Crosswords screen in the iPhone Settings.

I don't know if this would be helpful in recreating, but what I did in Settings was touch "Crosswords". Then on that page, I never touched the "Reset Crosswords" link, I just exited. I don't recall for certain if I used the "Settings" link at the top to return to the main Settings screen or just exited with the iPhone button.

Accessing the Crosswords screen in Settings again is not causing another data reset, so perhaps it only happens with initialization of the Crosswords screen/properties on a phone where it has not been used before?

After having lost my data anyway, I returned to the Crosswords screen in Settings and touched on Reset Crosswords, just to see. After seeing that screen, I can confirm I am quite certain I did not proceed before and did not even see that screen.

I too had puzzle completions from Oct. 1996, though it seems unlikely that would be an important factor.

For what it may be worth, I did not go into the Settings screen until long after I lost the data.

I think you may be right, since I am now experiencing repeated loss of completion data without visiting the Settings screen. I haven't pinned down the exact combination of steps that cause it to occur.

Thanks guys! I am deeply apologetic for this and we are working really hard to track down what has gone wrong and will get it resolved ASAP.

In the meantime, can you guys contact support@magmic.com and let them know you are the folks who were commenting on this post on Magmic Social.

Any word on getting the wiped out data back? I had every puzzle completed from April 2008 - present, so I really hate to imagine losing all that. I just sent an email to support@magmic.com as well, but thought I'd check here too...

They suggested resyncing your phone to the last time you connected to iTunes on your computer.

Not only did I lose all my saved data and puzzles, but it seems to be resetting itself every time I exit. I have to keep turning off the music and sound. Furthermore, it's not saving my progress on the puzzle I'm currently working on, so I have to keep restarting the puzzle.

I never touched "reset all puzzles."
